[+]What is a Guaranty of License and why do I need one?
A guarantor is someone (usually a parent or guardian) who agrees to be financially responsible if you cannot fulfill the obligation of the license agreement. Consider your Guaranty of Housing License your “co-signor.” All prospective residents, including independent and graduate students, are required to have a Guaranty of Housing License form on file in order to live in Taylor Place.
The Guaranty of Housing License must be signed in front of a Notary, who will then complete the form and apply a stamp or seal to validate it. In lieu of notarization, guarantors can provide a photocopy of their valid drivers’ license or government ID.
[+]When will I know my official assignment?
For our incoming freshmen and transfer students, we make community assignments on a rolling basis and notify students as those assignments are made. So, you will receive an initial notification that you have been assigned to Taylor Place as soon as your application is fully processed and you are assigned to this community. Our goal is to confirm specific room and roommate assignments within the community by mid-late July. You will be able to view your room assignments from the Housing section of your MyASU portal.
[+]What is the difference between applying and signing a license agreement?
When you submit an application, you are letting us know that you are interested in living at Taylor Place. There is no official agreement between you and Taylor Place with just your application. Fees associated with your application are non-refundable and non-transferable.
When you sign a license agreement, you are signing acceptance to live in Taylor Place for both the fall and spring semesters.
If, during your occupancy, you cannot meet the requirements of the agreement you signed, you must inform Taylor Place staff immediately. Review the license agreement with anyone you need to consult about your decision, such as your family.
[+]What if I need to cancel my application or license agreement?
Cancellation of an application will result in the loss of your application fee.
The Taylor Place License Agreement is a binding agreement that applies to both the fall and spring semesters. Permitted cancellation of the license agreement will only be allowed on a limited basis and may be accompanied by a processing fee. Acceptable reasons for canceling a license agreement include: a) graduation from ASU; b) withdrawal/transfer from ASU; c) an academic internship sponsored by ASU that requires you to leave the Phoenix area; or d) military duty activation that requires you to withdraw from ASU.
